It is a simple but elaborate process, using plaster bandages. After the cast is molded it needs at least 24 hours for it to fully dry. You can decorate your belly cast or you can hire us to create a beautiful masterpiece for you. To achieve the desired cast, the pregnant mother is consulted on her preference of position, pose and style. Petroleum Jelly is applied to protect the skin, followed by the belly casting materials which creates the form. The process takes about 30-50 minutes depending on how elaborate the cast is and an additional 10-15 minutes for the cast to set. The expectant mother can enjoy a relaxing foot massage while listening to soft music.
Invite your closest friends and family to be apart of the plastering process to make lasting memories while bonding with mom and baby. Please advise the spa coordinator on how many guests you will bring to your appointment.
When should I make my belly cast?
There is really no limitation. Generally, we recommend a belly cast be made between the 30 and 38 weeks of pregnancy.
What should I wear?
You can wear something comfortable and preferably old since it may be ruined during casting process. Casting are made on bare skin or an old bra may be worn. Wearing a bra will give you added lift and support. For the lower part of your body, you can wear a pair of old panties, boy shorts or sweat pants.
